Payment type changes the fee
The US presets distinguish Checkout or Guest Checkout at 3.49% plus $0.49, send/receive Goods and Services at 2.99% without a fixed fee, standard card payments at 2.99% plus $0.49, and the selected Pay Later type at 4.99% plus $0.49.
Compare a domestic payment
At the US Checkout rate, receiving $100 results in a modelled $3.98 fee and $96.02 net receipt. The Goods and Services preset gives a different result because its fee structure is different.
International and conversion costs
The default is domestic. You can enter an international percentage surcharge in Fee options, but the calculator does not automatically quote every cross-border agreement or currency conversion spread. Your invoice and merchant agreement determine the actual charge.
Avoid adding PayPal fees twice
Use this tool for a payment actually processed under the selected PayPal type. Do not add it again to an eBay managed-payments sale simply because a buyer selected PayPal at checkout; the eBay calculator already models its platform charging structure.
Common questions
Does this include personal Friends and Family transfers?
No. The presets cover the described commercial payment types.
Does changing currency perform FX conversion?
No. A currency change changes the denomination. Unsupported account-region/currency combinations use custom rates.
